I’m finally feeling settled back in Madrid after my short visit to Melbourne. This week in class we have be getting back into a bit of throwing—so as to not loose the touch! Some of our decorated pieces have been fired and are ready for a final layer of glaze, which we should get done next week! 😀 I am finalising a hand built piece and refining surface designs for another lidded vessel. It is all happening!
Cross-section—the walls at the base are a little thick—practice practice practice!
Snowing! Although it is hard to appreciate in this phone camera captured image the lightly falling flakes were lovely while they lasted.
Preparing 300gms of engobe for the base of the pot on the right. The little pile of yellow is a synthetic colorant—Ocher—added at 2% for a slight creamy colour.
After the second firing, we washed the pieces to remove any powder.
Mid-way through a prac on opaque glazes 😀
Some of the teachers at the school are undertaking a profesional development class in image transfers! Seems like a lot of fun!
At times my cylinders can seem completely out of control, but with a little patients things can turn around.
Paella for lunch! (this photo is for my dear Mumma who is a grand paella fan) 😉
